miss you...

After reading of the times Ashley thinks of Mom, I couldn't help but add a few of my own.  I'm sure we all have our little "Jan" moments, I just hope mine don't come off as to irreverent.  Anyway, here goes.....

when I go to Johnson for a haircut and think I should stop at Mom's to visit, I miss her

when it snows and I think I should go and make sure her sidewalk is scooped, I miss her

when its a real heavy, wet snow and I worry about the snow on the back room roof freezing and leaking into the family room, I miss her

when I drive by the old empty house, I miss her

when we have a big Sunday dinner and she's not here, I miss her

When Wyatt tells me he misses MY grandma, I miss her

when we take road trips to watch the nephews games, I miss her

when I put something somewhere so I don't forget where I put it, and then can't find it anyway, I miss her

when I'm channel surfing and see the QVC channel, I miss her

When I can't throw away the extra screws they always send along when you have to put something together, I miss her

When I tell myself not to get too excited about something so I won't be dissappointed when it doesn't happen, I miss her

Just like everyone, I miss her terribly.
Hopefully we can all recognize her influence upon our lives, how she helped us become who we are, that's as it should be. I can only pray she's in a better place.  That hope and the love of this family is my only solace.

Love you all,
Roger

  1. Dad,
I loved reading your post! You should start a blog... no really, you made me cry! I have a few to add to the list too.

When I see Wyatt zooming around in a thrown-together-idea 'old red scarf' cape, I miss her.

When I salt and pepper the hell out of my dinner and Eric looks at me funny, I miss her.

When a random grandma at the mall who is ooogling over Luke smells like Suave and Nicotine, I miss her.

When Luke rings her Rosary LOUD on the pew seat during the homily, I miss her.

When my boys play with these 3 ugly Dollar General animals that she gave Wyatt for his birthday, I miss her. (seriously, every time we are outside, they play with those things... she must have known :)

I have so many but want to hear others too!

    I love you all!

    Wendy
