Here are some new spring pictures! Grant loves being outside, not sure what we did all winter to keep him inside. Also a few pics of Wyatt and Luke! Grant loves the horses that live my our house, throwing rocks in the pond, and jumping in the mud puddles.
Love you all! Carrie & Grant

State Bound
Thanks for the great pictures....made me even sadder that I wasn't there, but Nick, I listened on the radio, with my little elementary students and you certainly gave the state champions a scare!
Speaking of state, little Mark Andrew qualified for state.....speech! Ha! He would probably be mad if he even knew I was telling you all, but as a former speech coach, I know all the hard work that it takes to get to state and how hard it is to make it, so thought I would share his accomplishment (however nerdy) with all of my loved ones.
It's one of those things I really miss about momma, calling and telling her these things that probably aren't a big deal, but that we are proud of our kids about, but isn't such a big enough that I feel like I should call and put you all through the misery of listening to a boring ole momma drag on about her kids! :) I also miss calling her and getting all the info and updates about all of you...so what is going on with everyone?
Anyway, Mark qualified in OID, and in Duet Acting received a superior medal and missed going to state by two points. As he just was going to bed I told him I was blogging about his going to state and he said, "I will get ridiculed for that!" hahaha!
Hope you are all enjoying the AMAZING weather.......that makes me miss momma too, know she would be out with her hands in the dirt.....planting onions, radishes......zillion of things so happy to just be outside. Okay, I'm done......LOVE YOU ALL
POSTSCRIPT: What are you all thinking about this walk? Let's do it!

Heart Walk 2012
Hey family!
Who's ready to walk again this year? I had such a great time last year in KC. Are we doing that again this year?
The Lincoln Heart Walk is April 28, 2012. This is sponsored by the AHA and does require that we raise a little money for AHA (to get a free t-shirt you have to raise $100).
http://heartwalk.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=487118&lis=1&kntae487118=2B7063E968854B888F7A5A26E07746EC#
Check it out! I'll follow-up with an email.
I think this is something I'd like to volunteer for or walk in.
Love you all -
Carrie

miss you...
After reading of the times Ashley thinks of Mom, I couldn't help but add a few of my own. I'm sure we all have our little "Jan" moments, I just hope mine don't come off as to irreverent. Anyway, here goes.....
when I go to Johnson for a haircut and think I should stop at Mom's to visit, I miss her
when it snows and I think I should go and make sure her sidewalk is scooped, I miss her
when its a real heavy, wet snow and I worry about the snow on the back room roof freezing and leaking into the family room, I miss her
when I drive by the old empty house, I miss her
when we have a big Sunday dinner and she's not here, I miss her
When Wyatt tells me he misses MY grandma, I miss her
when we take road trips to watch the nephews games, I miss her
when I put something somewhere so I don't forget where I put it, and then can't find it anyway, I miss her
when I'm channel surfing and see the QVC channel, I miss her
When I can't throw away the extra screws they always send along when you have to put something together, I miss her
When I tell myself not to get too excited about something so I won't be dissappointed when it doesn't happen, I miss her
Just like everyone, I miss her terribly.
Hopefully we can all recognize her influence upon our lives, how she helped us become who we are, that's as it should be. I can only pray she's in a better place. That hope and the love of this family is my only solace.
Love you all,
Roger

From Ashley's blog
miss you
when i make oatmeal cookies with your recipe, i miss you.when i get the spaghetti sauce just right, i miss you.
when i enjoy a perfect sunset over the mississippi, i miss you.
when i drive by Corky's, i miss you.
when my mom hugs me just the way you used to, i miss you.
when i think about that weekend in august, i miss you.
when i see the saved emails from you in my inbox, i miss you.
when i fumble with my sewing, i miss you.
when i have a macgyver-like idea, i miss you.
when i have a moment of joy, i miss you.
when i use my lock-n-locks, i miss you.
when they play those songs at church, i miss you.
when i let my mind wander, i miss you.
when i see your perfect penmanship peeking out of my box of cards, i miss you.
when i do even the simplest, most ordinary tasks, i miss you.
thinking of my family this week.
may your heart be filled with contentment, understanding, memories and warmth.
