i'm starting to move stuff into my apartment in omaha and being the hoarder/pack rat that i am (thanks mom), last night i came across all of the old greeting cards that i have received over the past three years. i found a 'thinking of you' card from grandma. of course it made me bawl. i just became so overwhelmed with the amount of love she had for each and every one of us. simply amazing. i miss her so so much.
on a happier note. it is fact that lori makes the BEST chocolate cake i have ever tasted (and i've had a lot). might i propose that she brings some to the next family gathering so everyone can try? :) seriously. so good. THANK YOU lori (and i still can't wait to see your house)! i have the best aunts ever.
love you all and can't wait to see you again!

Sisters
"Sisters are different flowers from the same garden"
I am lucky to have 3 sisters. (and some pretty great sisters-in-law)
We all have different personalities, and yet we are all bound together by our garden.
Having a sister means you always have someone who loves you.
You always have someone who understands where you're coming from, even if you're wrong.
Having a sister means you have someone who will laugh at you and with you and chuckle just thinking about you later on.
Having a sister means you always have a shoulder to cry on...
even if that shoulder is hundreds of miles away.
One of my regrets in life is that I didn't give Taryn a sister, Carrie, Wendy, Ashley, Tori, Paige & Jade...I hope she can always find that "sisterhood" with you. Love you All!!

Usher...Usher
Hello family. I'm so sorry that I've been m.i.a for quite some time. Oddly enough, it has already been a week since school got out and I can hardly believe how fast the week went. If this is any indication of how the rest of the summer is going to be...then it will definitely be over way too fast! Among other things, I start summer school in a couple of weeks along with taking classes and teaching a Thinking Caps class called "A Wild Weather Adventure!" (an enrichment class for kids who sign up).
My biggest task to accomplish will be MOVING! I did it. No, I didn't take a giant plunge and buy a house or anything (anyone who has seen my checking account will thank me for that) I did, however, decide to move out of my cozy little apartment and into a cozy little house. Although it is nowhere near the house of my dreams...it does have, wait for it, A WASHER AND DRYER! My days of waiting months to do laundry (until I can collect enough quarters) are over!!! It does come with a small lawn...and sidewalks...but I guess that mowing and scooping are all a part of growing up. We'll see how it goes :) I'll post some pics for you guys once I move in...since no one seems to venture this way...EVER! (no pressure or anything)
Now to the story that I actually intended to tell you when I got on here! On Sunday, a crew of Fairbury ladies and I headed to Omaha for the Usher/Akon concert. We arrived in Omaha around 2:00...only 5 1/2 hours before the concert :) We ate a late lunch and then headed to the Old Market to have some drinks. I text Miss Ashley to see what some good spots would be and she recommended Billy Frogs where we ordered a delightful drink called "Pond Scum" It sounds as interesting as it tasted. One word. Tequila.
Once we finally made it to the concert...we hit the main floor and then just kept walking forward...and forward...and forward. I swear to you, my heart almost stopped when I saw how close we were to the stage. I ended up sitting dead center and could see absolutely everything. Facial expressions and all. It was AMAZING! I am 99 percent positive that Usher and I made eye contact at one point and my legs ached the next day from dancing so much. I have now realized that my mission this summer should be to go to as many concerts as I possibly can because I absolutely LOVE them! Here are a few pics from the day.
For those of you who aren't sure exactly what Usher sings...this was my favorite from the night!
Hope you are all well and happy. I miss you all already and hope that we can get together soon!
Hugs from Fairbury! xoxo

Through The Eyes of a Grieving Daughter
Through the eyes of a grieving daughter....the world is gray.
Through the eyes of a grieving daughter....people go by and I stand still.
Through the eyes of a grieving daughter...I stare but see nothing, I feel only the tears as they melt down my face.
Still angry. Still mad.
Still not understanding the 'why' of it all.
Will this pain ever go away?
Will my heart ever heal?
Will my tears ever stop?
Why must I look through the eyes of a grieving daughter?
It'a been a bad weekend girls....I can't stop crying.
I miss my momma.
